The author uses many words, often where fewer, and more thoughtfully placed, words will suffice; and the author introduces political and cultural opinion into the narrative directly, rather than through a character’s perspective. This makes the book offensive at times, as cultural opinion, such as “all x people are rude” appears as a statement of fact rather than in a character’s speech or train of thought.

Tiresome. I’m going to DNF it.
