i literally have no idea how to enter a conversation about the themes of this book

This was a bad bad bad book for me to read!

This is so depressing I’m not sure I can get through it.

Clutched it to my chest, cried, and just kept saying “f*ck” over and over again after the last sentence. That’s my review.

never read a story so demanding to be read. and be so right about itself

this is about to be my favorite read of the year. i can feel it.

so what I'm learning is that i have the worst memory EVER. why do I keep forgetting who's who!??

too many characters with two many perspectives and the most thing that is pissing me off is that sometimes he writes in third person and sometimes not and like I am already confused 😭😭

This is going to be heavy on the heart

I heard this one is supposed to hit you right in the feels, and I'm nothing if not a masochist

A bit disjointed. Each chapter focuses on a different individual, spanning across many decades; however, the voice doesn’t change enough to let the characters shine through.

This is such a heavy book for how short it is. I've been reading it in piecemeal for a while and it's very good.

It’s interesting to me how Tommy Orange switches points of view for the different characters. The section I just finished was entirely written in second person. Don’t see that very often! Some of the characters will have both a first person point of view and a third person point of view in different sections.

i’ve been wanting to start this book for so long and i’m so happy to finally be reading it!! knowing Mack loves this book makes me like it that much more too :)

Tommy Orange had me at the prologue. he describes concepts and ideas so beautifully, some of his sentences i have been rereading
over and over…

Only on the second chapter, and I've already experienced at least 3 passages where Orange described a feeling or sensation with such simplicity and clarity that I feel like he is taking me to deeper levels of truth. I'm hooked!

I just have the inkling suspicion that no one in this book is going to have a happy ending.
