Today I read about some terrible Indian massacres that happened in the West many years ago.. The main character is living in modern times, in a city, and is Native American. He struggles with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. I wonder what other characters I will meet in this book.

the account of Opal being triggered and her other PTSD symptoms echoed from my experiences. the part about getting bigger to avoid disappearing…… chords kinda struck

entire beginning of opal chapter in part 3 resonated— up until the change to discussing the grandkids

Cheyenne Indian decent in Oakland CA. Introduced main characters and started reading about Tony Loneman...The Doome...fetal alcohol syndrome.

What an entrance, reminding me so much of the time I spent in BART, and passing through Oakland.

Hooked. Drank coffee, I want to stay up all night reading this.
