I like the earlier stories more and it’s just kinda making me jealous how much she’s travelled. But I’m def gonna finish like it’s still fun

Now that I’m finally done with Sloane’s WILD by Cheryl Strayed era, I’m going to speed through the rest of this book!

2023 reread. I've read it twice before. This is my favorite of her books and one of my favorite essay books, full stop.

It’s gotten slower, the closer I get to the end. The writing was filled with humor and excitement in the beginning but towards the end, it’s been a bit repetitive and slow.

This might be the earliest I’ve ever decided to DNF a book. Maybe I’ll go back to it since it’s for a book club in a few weeks. Not really interesting or engaging for me.

this book is so bad that my book club literally disbanded because no one could force themself to finish reading it. I hate not finishing Books once I start, but I can’t. It’s the driest collection of “comedic essays” I’ve ever seen.

I’m really enjoying this book, however, I had to stop reading for a while, and read all of “Fall; Or Dodge in Hell,” although I’m not sure the specific book is significant, when I got to the essay about infertility. I’m incapable of reading anything about how a woman is able to confront the possibility of infertility in a mature fashion and subsequently learn and grow from what she discovers.

I am torn between doling this book out little by little to savor its wonderfulness and reading it in one sitting.
Sloane Crosley is one of the very best humor essayists I have ever read, and the short segment I have read of this one is like a mini-vacation for my soul.

This was an excellent read. Crosley's wit and humor reminded me of Spalding Gray. It was a refreshing and unique approach to humor in the everyday world.

Ms. Crosley writing style is familiar to Spalding Gray, for the exception of the monologue.

I've liked Sloane Crosley since her first book. This already seems to be another enjoyable work by her.

While I'm not sure how fond I am of Sloane Crosley's writing, I am sure that I am growing fond of reading essays in general. I can get used to reading more types of books featuring funny, slice of life essays. As for "Look Alive Out There" I have already began a bullet point lists of all the topics I want to address in my review including Sloane's humor, realism, and her storytelling ability.
