I didn't realize that this takes place AFTER the powder mage novels, which i have only read the first. So i had some of the story of those spoiled by starting to read this.

All of the references to the earlier books and stories now make sense! So much better the second time around, after reading the other books.

Re-reading this, now that I've read all of the previous stories and novels, so I can be all up to speed for the new novel, Wrath of Empire.

Oh my! How good is it being back a world written by McClellan?

Oh shit! I didn’t even see that coming!! Woah!

I’m intrigued! Love the writing and characters so far.

I knew I'd like Ben Styke from reading the reviews, but man, he might just become one of my all time favorite characters.

Thoroughly enjoyed the original powder mage trilogy, but it was a slow build, a visible display of McClellan's growth as a writer.. In Sin's of Empire, McClellan has hit his stride.

Been putting this book off for far too long. Christian Rodska's gravelly voice beckons.

Side note: am currently reading three books between audible, kindle and graphic novel. How productive this is, I am uncertain. It's an odd but enjoyable balancing act.

323 pages later... definitely picked up! It's very good for what it is... an exciting fantasy with lots of characters and political intrigue. I wouldn't say there's a lot of 'depth' to it, but it's fun and endearing if you're a fan of the genre.

A few notes:
I can't quite seem to allow my imagination to immerse in this world.
Every time I eye the length, I get a sense of sleepy dread. Coming back into reading, this is quite the challenge. May pick up another book to read on the side.

I'm so ready to start this - but apparently I missed a Powder Mage novella so I gotta read that first - AND there's a novel before Sins of Empire too! Soon, my precious! (oh, please give me some good fucking fantasy now considering the hell I read earlier today)

I was worried I wouldn't like Vlora (since I found her rather irksome in the Powder Mage trilogy), but so far I like her a lot.

I am really liking this. Interested to see what happens in the three current situations.

I really wish I could stay up and read more of this. I'm enjoying it a lot so far. Very curious about all of the characters and where everything is leading.

This is really good so far.

Still really done care for Vlora but the rest of the cast is great.
