Status Updates From Under the Stars of Paris (F...

Many thanks to one of my new GR friends for making me aware of this author. I'm hoping for a similar experience to reading a Betty Neels novel. Predictable, romantic, and nicely restful.

Wildly romantic that he begins his declaration of love by saying, "My God, do you want it from me in words of one syllable?"

“Is it true that he had a long affair with Peroni, the opera singer?” Okay maybe I'm remembering wrong but I think Peroni, the opera singer was the OW in A Song Begins?? For some reason this is so funny to me

"Then the vendeuse returned, accompanied by a slight, fair-haired man with beautiful hands, thinning hair, and the air of an exhausted and impatient schoolboy." I also love this description

"For herself, she had never liked Millicent [the heroine's stepmother], who made a specialty of understanding other women's husbands" lmao love this description

I just read another Burchell book with a heroine named Anthea. I was disappointed that it wasn't the same girl but got a consolation prize with the OW from that other book making an appearance in this one. Either that or Ms. Burchell should spread her wings a little and choose some different names ;D
