Argh. This is so not good. What bride makes her own wedding cake? I don't care if you're a baker. You're the bride. You don't have the time.

What bakery opens at 10 am? It's no wonder she's not sure her business will succeed.

I tried reading this once before and that ridiculous fact stalled me so bad it was a dnf. I'm going to push through this time and see what happens.

Short and sweet

“I couldn’t get on the plane.” Her eyes slowly met his. He hadn’t boarded the plane. “Why?” she whispered. “Because I don’t want that life. I want you. I want this life. After glimpsing what life could be like with you, I couldn’t go back to what it used to be. I’m finally ready to make my choice.”

“We both knew we couldn’t last. It was nice knowing you, Jase.” The words were a slap in the face. “Cassidy!” He stood frozen. With suddenly clarity, it hit him—this was what he wanted. She was what he wanted. He didn’t care about the production or Drew or Hollywood or what his mother wanted. The only thing in life that really mattered to him was walking away.

“When do you leave?”
“Three days.”
Three days. Her heart ached. This really was ending. He kissed her softly on the forehead and wrapped her in his embrace. She felt his unspoken pain, and knew he didn’t want to leave any more than she wanted him to. Ask him to stay! But no. They lived completely different—and incompatible—lifestyles.

Their lips met, and Jase knew he was lost. Her fingers found their way into his hair and he held her chin in place, tilting her face to deepen the kiss. Everything else disappeared. Why had he spent the last few years making movies in California, when the life he wanted had been sitting right here in Oklahoma, just waiting for him to find it?

Jase wasn’t surprised Drew was spreading that rumor. Suddenly, Cassidy’s cold shoulder made so much sense. “Drew is a lying cheat. He did nothing but try to use me for my connections while on set.” “You aren’t friends?” “Not even close.”

Cassidy needs to grow up and put her big-girl panties on.

When Jase had contacted Randy about spending 4 months at Star Ranch, he’d wanted one thing—escape from Hollywood. He hadn’t expected to run into a gorgeous woman on his first night there. She wore shorts that hugged her hips, a fitted gray T-shirt that emphasized her curves, and cowboy boots. It gave her an industrial, hard-working look that he adored.

She thought of lying on a cold, sterile bed in the ER and hearing the words, “The heartbeat’s gone. I’m sorry.” The stress proved too much for the unplanned pregnancy. Even though the thought of being a mother terrified Cassidy, losing the baby and Drew all at once had devastated her.

This is so bland. Nothing is going on..

Not much has happened for being almost halfway through the book...

I loved it! It was fast yet detailed. Characters were strong and deep but did not dwell on the past. Sweet, ymmy, and fun.
