This novella basically covers the very end of the sixth season of the TV show. I should be done with it in the next day or two, depending on how much time I get to read it. I'm reading this one by hand instead of listening to an audiobook.

Like most of the other novellas, this was fine. A mostly cryptic story that you'll just be waiting to get more context about in one of the full novels. Or not. Maybe it'll never be revisited. Can never really tell. So far, The Churn has been the only novella to actually prove to be important, because it tied directly into Amos' story arc in book 5. The Vital Abyss is still an unaddressed dangling thread.

Beach read #3.5; doesn't count as a full one as per usual with these novellas. The ebook I had loaded onto my Kindle over a year ago didn't want to open, but luckily I had also downloaded the entire novella collection, Memory's Legion, and that works. But it means I don't have an accurate percentage tracker - as if that matters.
No idea if I'll start book 7 during this trip. Probably not. Wanted to get this done tho

I keep telling myself that I should slow down on this series and read something else. Like, maybe finish Wuthering Heights.
But. But...I'm obsessed. I can't stop. I have terminal The Expanse brain, and I fear I shall never recover.

Really enjoyed reliving the Laconia substory from the last series that was on Amazon, but hoped that there would be more to the novella than was included in the TV show. There was, but barely so.

this novella fills in many of the gaps in the story and folds in with the last book of the series.

Strange Dogs that come out of the trees on the edge of the woods, on Laconia. What are they?

Well, this is one of the creepier short stories I've ever read. We're pushing Carmilla level here.

This story seemed shorter than a novella. And, a special treat, the preview at the end was Ann’s Provenance :)
The major theme seems to be how the things we take for granted, aren’t. Plus some extra stuff to add to the major arc.
I think I’ll read all the short form Expanse stories now. This one explained the origin story of the reconstructed grey kids Cortazar was holding. But not why, or how he got them.

Okay. So your experience of this story will totally depend on whether you’ve read TW or not. Because my first thought on “page 24” is that Momma bird is probably grey with black eyes.

A baby in “tight-seal” diapers... reminds me of Muskrat at the end of TW.

I’m noticing the foreshadowing sentences. Also the lyrical, metaphorical (or simile-laden) ones.

This is the same Cara who appears in Tiamat’s Wrath, I think. Xan is here too.

I thought it was a neat little story that gave a little insight into one of the words through the gate.

Interesting story about the effect we have with the new worlds thay we live in and the old ways we bring to it. At least that is my thought, early on.
Birds and what can be fed to them (not bread on this world).
