Bouncing around a lot in books recently, but this is working so well for me. Loving the structure, the way it bounces around, and the way it's using language (even if it's not quite as good as what he did in Sorcerer of The Wildeeps)

This could be borne and he would bear it. Aqib drew a long shuddering breath. Life had some worth and meaning. It truly did.

Love visibly transformed him when their gazes met: from something furious and strange, to someone tried and true.

Aqib knew the despair of that extremity only too well: what it meant to have no recourse except to yield, and yet be met with more violence anyway.

Chilling words to Aqib, even a little frightening; for manhood’s ways had often tripped him up, and his errors provoked harsh correction.

This book is fascinating. The writing style is so unique and the story progression so carefully laid out. I'll admit it was very confusing to me, but I can still appreciate it!!
Unfortunately the story is just not my cup of tea. I'm not marking this as finished, because I am going to come back to this since I do enjoy the writing style so much.

“Did he want him enough to shove past his own father, throwing the old man aside in order to flee . . . ? Yes!”
