“Refusing to vaccinate puts at risk not just your children but the people in your communities who most require our protection. This is a substantial downside for people deciding to protect their kids via star signs and “good vibes” instead of medicine.”

(Horoscopes are, to be fair, a lot of fun.)

“I’m a Taurus! One of our personality traits is not believing horoscopes are real!”

I studied Microbiology in uni so I know a lot about these diseases and for polio, Jonas Salk is merely remembered as someone who developed an injectable (saksak) vaccine while Sabin is known to developed the oral version of it, but this book expounds on their life and rivalry !!! IM SCREAMING IN THE POLIO CHAPTER!!

The nineteenth century doctor Thomas Trotter likewise lamented: "So unnatural and perverted are fashionable opinions on this subject, that blooming complexion is thought to indicate low life and vulgarity in breeding. What a false standard for beauty: to prefer sickly sallow hue of the countenance to the roses of health! "

“Vaccination is one of the best things that happened to civilization. Empires toppled like sandcastles in the wake of diseases we do not give a second thought to today. If taking a moment to elaborate on that point will make this book unpopular with a large group of antivaxxers, that’s okay. This feels like a good hill to die on…”
