I was assigned a chapter of this during high school and it dazzled me at the time, with its dense and heavily-endnoted paragraphs. Now? It's frustrating to be subjected to giant notes on Adorno, Althusser, Hall, Foucault, Homi Bhabha, &c. when Lowe completely butchers the concept of abstract labor in an attempt to "provincialize" Marx as supposedly part of the ignorant European universalisms. Master the basics first!

As I've read lots of texts in Asian American scholarship, one of the most discussed/recurring texts is Theresa Hak Kyung Cha's Dictée... and the desire to read that keeps growing.
