Patrick rolled his eyes. “The bit where Mark and me were plotting to smother you with an oven glove. But I can demonstrate, if you like.”

“What’s wrong with it? I thought it fit rather well,” he added, smoothing the sweater down over his (thankfully still flat) stomach.
Fen actually put her phone down and sat up straight. A stuffed frog tumbled unheeded to her sheepskin rug. “It’s grey. Worse. It’s sludge-brown grey. It’s horrible. And it matches your hair. You look like you need dusting.”

sad that david is the best thing about this book and he isn't even one of the main characters... urg.

I like Fen.

Is this going to turn into a situation where we see another cis savior of a trans person? I'm hoping not.

I really, really like David . . . maybe TOO much. His relationship with Fen is fantastic, and he is spending an awful lot of time with Mark. It's kind of making it hard to root for Mark and Patrick.

Normally I don't mind children in stories, but in this case I'm making an exception...most annoying 14 year old EVER!!! Seriously good thing she's not mine because I really couldn't guarantee that she'd make it to being most annoying 15 year old...it'd be questionable...seriously questionable.

It was like a feline version of Grindr.

"he had to turn comforter when Ellen’s anger, always a brittle thing, inevitably shattered into tears." This is a 39 year old woman, not some child! This ex wife is awful

Annoyed. Only one existing parent between the two men. The 39-year olds parents are both dead. The 25 year old's dad flaked out, and his mom is dating guys in a desultory, unsatisfying fashion.

"If I didn't do it, someone else would" is a TERRIBLE justification for doing anything.

Look, you can make all the excuses you want for Mark's job via every character in the book, I'm still with Patrick on this. Mark's job is shitty and that's a choice he made.

To be honest, Mark's former job is probably a deal-breaker for me, too.

I'm not super impressed so far. The characters aren't as credible for me as Merrow's usually are, and the chemistry is completely lacking. And apparently there's still more Big Drama to come, based on the blurb. *rolls eyes*
