He talked earlier in the book about how an academic consensus could be had on what values have the highest utility… now he’s acknowledging differing beliefs on equality depending on personal values… like utilitarianism is a good consideration in decisions, but ultimately it can’t be objectively measured or calculated, except according to an individual’s own values in their heart.
