Status Updates From If I Was Your Girl

Audio version. Trying something totally different. Hopefully this gets me out of a my first audio slump. :(.

I'm struggling a little to get into this, primarily because the voice seems off. The tone feels very adult, and not in the way precocious teens sound adult.

So far so good.

wow this book is just so emotional and this is coming from a cis gender young adult! All the characters seem to be so real to me and seem like genuine people you may encounter in everyday life

"My point exactly! Homophobes think about gay sex all the time because they want to have it. They insist being gay is a choice because every single day they have to choose not to have the kind of sex they want. Homophobes are super gay." "Wouldn't that make the South--The gayest place in the Western Hemisphere?"

There are things I like, and there are things I don't like which sucks because I was expecting to love it. I think it might grow on me though

This audiobook is phenomenal. I've already cried 2x. I'm going to have to pick up a physical copy.

This is such a fantastic audiobook!

This has made me cry twice already.

Very into the religious undertones. Southern writers of LGBT*QIA just speak to my high school experiences.

Grant melted my heart and I'm still hella!protective of Amanda. (took a loooong break, read some more).

OTOH, I'm totes shiny-eyed about Amanda's story. OTOH, I keep having to put down the book because I start to get tense that Something Bad will eventually happen. I guess you can say I'm SUPER INVESTED in Amanda's happinesses. :3

This book is really good. FWIW, the flashbacks are squeezing my heart like whoa! ;_;

I may be crying. A little. Just a tear or two

I picked this up on a whim, and though it feels a little single-focused at times, I'm enjoying it. It's SO NICE to see a trans narrative written by a trans woman and about that person, not how inconvenient they are. I like the blunt head on ways it faces transphobia (internalized etc), mental illness, religion etc. Anyway, I'm enjoying Amanda and her story so far.

I'm expecting the low blow. Hopefully it won't come.

I'm loving the characterizations a lot.

I think Grant is one of the sweetest characters I've read in months. I really like him
