I’m liking this book. Added to my list via Banned Books list in Libby/SPL. In contrast to the annoying Mistakes Were Made book (which is about white children and class issues not trans children, to be clear), the book allows the story to unfold in real time and past time without hiding information/holding back.

Amanda and her dad lit a "candle" for Andrew, her past self. She moved back in with her dad. Her friends are still her friends. She and Grant are talking things out and still trying to be together. She is finally happy with herself and she opens up to Grant about her past and her past self. Her dad and her made up at the end and he says he's okay with having his daughter.

She wrote a letter to Grant saying telling him everything. She told him about her transformation, her suicide attempt, etc. He threw it in a bucket and burned it. He said he didn't care about any of that. She later had a flashback of her mother saying how she missed her son. Then her mother says that she's glad she still has her child, but will always grieve because kids grow up and change.

The guy she is dating took her to meet his parents. She found out that his mom was taking medication to help her with her mental health. Her boyfriend then opened up about his father. The father had a real job, but then the police came to their door with papers about their father and it turned out that he had been doing illegal things. She was going to open up to him about her past, but got too scared to.

Enjoying this audiobook so far!

the books really good so far there’s a lot of secrets between everyone so it’s interesting to slowly find out them. I have a feeling bee might end up liking amanda

i gave up on annotating this book, but it’s good so far

My first transgender novel I’m reading in my life!

Comecei esse livro pois estou assistindo Euphoria e encantada com a personagem da Jules.

We went from thinking this was a mystery book about a dark past and murder with someone having been involved in said murder or a victim (still in a way just not what I thought) to someone being trans. Great book so far even though it was not what I was expecting. I’m going to try and actually annotate this book for once and see how it goes.
