Status Updates From If I Was Your Girl

I dreamed about this book last night. I dreamed that something finally happened.

Only finished the first chapter and I really feel the anxiousness and strain of Amanda's situation. This book may very well wreck me.

The only thing I don't like about this book is the drug use. The story so far is amazing and beautiful and sad and I can't hug it to my chest tight enough to protect the characters inside.

I'm only fifty pages in and I'm already tearing up - this book is going to be very painful, I can already tell.

I LOCATED THE BOOK and i'm now going to start it!! i hope there's nothing which sets off my anxiety in it (i'm trans so if the trans main character gets attacked in a transphobic attack or something that would probably set off my anxiety.... thanks brain) anyways it should be okay tho! i'm excited to begin!

Tbh, im waiting for the other shoe to drop and im absolutely terrified for when it does. I want this to end happy, but I guess I'm too cynical or something... I just, I want everyone to live the life they want, without hurting others, and be happy. But I also want to read things that are real, and this feels real. And real isn't always happy.

I'm loving the book so far and the author has done a good job of writing a transgender character

Beautiful. I don't normally like constant changes of POV between the present and the past, but this works and serves a big purpose for this story. I'm loving this family and I hope they win in the end and that I don't end the book crying.

I've highlighted more in this first chapter than I have in most entire books. I'm not sure I'm quite ready for this book, but I can't wait to read it.
