“See you tomorrow!” “No you won’t.” This is foreshadowing that Andy is going to try and kill himself

Imagery- “Something thudded against my skull as the dark around me turned red and all the night sounds were replaced by ringing in my right ear.” This is a good description because it is easy for the readers to picture what is happening

Word choice- “I ran.” This sentence is isolated and important. It shows the urgency for the moment

Appeal to emotion- “But guys guess what, she’s a he!” This moment is so sad because she just won homecoming queen and finally felt normal, but Bee told the whole school that because she was jealous

Description- “My cheeks were two red circles like an embarrassed anime character.” I like this simile because it is funny and I can relate to it

Simile- “I gripped the armrests like I was riding a roller coaster.” I like this because it is an easy image for me to picture

Favorite “I didn’t even notice when the needle went in,” I think this is funny because she was so worked up about getting her ears pierced and then she was too distracted to even notice when they actually pierced her ears

I like my book so far but sometimes it doesn't tell you who the main character is with. So it gets confusing at times when they are talking about certain topics.

Connection- “I wanted to comfort her, but there was nothing I could say.” I can connect to this because I am really bad at giving advice and helping people if they are sad, so I know how she feels

Irony- “The whole point of Halloween is pretending. It’s weird to be someone else for a little while.” This is funny because Amanda has felt like she has been pretending to be someone else for most of her life.

Argue- “You can tell me anything Amanda.” I know this isn’t true because in the end of the book he gets mad at Amanda for not telling him that she is transgender

Prediction- “She always gets upset when people talk about her daddy.” I think because of this sentence that maybe their dad left them because he isn’t at the dinner table either.

Foreshadowing- “My eyes landed on a cluster of pill bottles on the sink” This is foreshadowing the mother’s psychotic break

I'm so upset about what Amanda has gone through, I'm shaking. I want to protect her from every bad thing in the world. This novel is so amazing so far but also so sad.

I love this book already

Imagery- “I slammed the door and didn’t look back as I strode across the asphalt.” I can easily picture this description in my mind

Favorite- “Sometimes bad stuff happens that a few nice words can’t fix.” I like this because it is true

Vocab- “Chastised” to punish

Foreshadowing-“This was different. Something was about to change.” This is foreshadowing the moment that Amanda’s dad leaves her and her mom.

Transition- “Their fighting woke me up at four thirty.” This immediately captivates the reader so it was a good writing strategy

Personification- “The sky was gray and pregnant with the threat of another week of thunderstorms.” I like this because she could’ve said it looked like it was going to rain, but by using the personification it is more interesting.

This book is so good and I'm just waiting for the moment that my heart will be shatter because I just know it's coming. UGH it's so good that yesterday while​ commuting home and waiting for my parents all I did is read. It's been so long since I've been this into a book. I just love it.

I’m really enjoying this. It’s such an interesting subject matter to address and I’m really glad the author decided to address it. I’m intrigued to see where it goes.
