i truly love the fact that gay people being “addicted to the closet” is being discussed a lot in this book - esp in the south. there’s a character here that thought she was literally the ONLY girl who liked other girls and my heart broke but it’s so freaking real. this book is so sad but so good and so IMPORTANT.

I will admit that I believe God makes no mistakes when creating us and when he chooses you sex that is what you are meant to be. However, it is not my job to condemn people for how they feel and I will never intentionally treat anyone differently for their choices. This book is educating me so much on how it is for trans people in the world and I hope this knowledge will help me become a better person

Chapter 9 honestly made me so sad. I am very proud to call myself a Christian and will admit that I have myself, suffered in the past with my faith due to my deteriorating mental health. However, I believe that God loves us all and I in no way want to be associated with people who hate others for their choices.
