Status Updates From Uncanny X-Men (1963-2011) #94

I like that it’s like a direct sequel to Giant size x-men. Even though there’s 93 comics before this one. It itches my brain. Although why tf did everyone just pack and leave so suddenly?

The New X-Men first outing after their debut from their first Giant-sized issue. The old X-Men exits. Sunfire also departs. Scott opts to stay to train with the new group. They face Count Nefaria who threatened to activate the Doomsmith machine that control America's nuclear missiles...

Well, the story had a few plotholes but it was a huge improvement over Giant Size X-Men 1, apart from the fact that they still cannot use Storm's powers effectively (that is the problem when you have such a powerful character, you have no excuses for not using her).

Gosh, what is up with Thunderbird and constantly being angry?
And I just noticed that Nightcrawler so far did not speak any "German" apparently.

"Count Nefaria"? And I thought "Darth Sideous" and "Darth Maul" were too obvious bady guy give-away-name...

None of them is even remotely human? All five have clearly humanoid bodies and the only female one even a human face (of course the woman among them is still somewhat attractive).

If these X-Men need that much training (even Wolverine?), why were they any help against Krakoa?
And why does a mutated island register as a human mutant anyway?

Wow, you have to wonder who is the bigger asshole here, Sunfire for just leaving or most of the old X-Men for just leaving because they have grown up… You know, I am sure there are tons of threats still out there and so what they are doing (since they form no team of their own) seems simply selfish. Could they not write some better reason? Like PTSD.
