Must stop here somehow. The audio book narrator has changed his recording / speaking style. He reads much faster and therefore always breathes very rushed/abruptly in the middle of a sentence ...
I can't listen to it without getting aggressive...

I am thoroughly enjoying this series. I like the characters. They're reason I'm still reading!

Aliens attacked Earth, Earth's remaining space fleet fought back and won. Now the heroes have reformed society after the military and social elite ran from the aliens.
This book seems to be based on repairing Earth and reforming society as the aliens have taken over Mars and are regularly sending attack ships to attempt to land on Earth's surface.
It's a bit slow, but I'll keep reading.

I don't know. Something fishy about the CO and this mission.

Whatever I’ve become in this armor, this uniform, under this flag—I’m not yet the kind of man who can order the execution of a prisoner who’s sitting before me with his wrists bound together, and I hope I never will be.

I’ve not been back in a classroom setting in years, and it just reinforces to me that humans weren’t meant to sit on their asses for eight hours a day

Cannon fodder! Finally, somebody said it! And my favorite character isn't dead! And hopefully will stay alive for the last 2% of the book!

Ugh one of my favorite characters is set up to be the mentor who dies, hate this for me

Honestly she's always been set up for that BUT

Hopefully the author dodges that, again

Yeah, sure, the hundred year old military vehicles the US had are still running? Ran when parked, right.

Uh? POV guy should have realized how "curated" the news is in his universe, it's been discussed repeatedly.

Took half the book for the mission to start, searching for the traitors.
You could have skipped the first half and missed nothing.

I hate guns, uniforms and basically everything related to the military so why do I enjoy these Military SF books so much?

Good so far, like the others.
Starts off in Orem, Utah. Where I live, actually. It's not a desert, though...

So I'm getting what I asked for. In this book, Greyson seems more like a real person, but it feels like Kloos isn't all in on the idea.

At Colonel Cambell's posthumous decoration ceremony, I was bothered that the two fleet personnel that stayed with him on his suicide run were neither given names, nor any mention of them being decorated. In a real ceremony, they would have been named out of respect

I keep thinking Kloos will come about to the drug habit I suspected Grayson picked up last novel. There has been one hint, perhaps I'm over analyzing it.

I do like how Andrew has become soft in the middle and is finally seeming more human as he, basically, hides in his cush job of training soldiers and being close to his wife.

This book started slower than the first three. It isn't until chapter 7 that Kloos starts with the break neck speed I experienced in the first three books.
