I've barely scratched the surface of this book but I'm already learning so much about thoughtful leadership and brand building. Taking notes!!! P.S. it's so uncanny reading this right after Jon M Chu's memoir - the two literally go hand in hand.

anyway i was very fortunate to be given a copy of this by my lovely internship coworkers! my supervisor was motivated by my passion for producing, and this feels like such a nice read while i lead a team on our student short film. i love artistic passion!!

Had no idea I would enjoy this book so much; there is so much applicable wisdom here

Ch. 1 - intro is all about providing an environment where all voices are heard and encouraged. Management is there simply to solve the problems that inhibit a collaborative, problem solving environment.

The rest of the chapter focuses on the author’s upbringing. His childhood fascination with Disney and his love but lack of art skill. He became a computer engineer and focused on computer animations.

The book is good! Reflecting on my own time working in creative industries, and what I liked and didn’t like.

Kind of boring. All backstory, no lessons.

So far the book is pretty cool but I am struggling to read it since there is a lot of information and every sentence feels important.

Listening to The Expanded Edition, which is 17,5 hours 😅 Good stuff. Fun and interesting stories.

I will finish this boring as hell book. I tried to DNF it years ago, but it keeps staring at me in my audible account. If nothing else, it will act as melatonin for the next few week.

Doing an audiobook, and I actually like it. Ed has a great voice for this and provides fantastic background but does not get bogged down in too many details.

"Hidden problems" is just a fancy term for anxiety

Sorta di "biopic" della Pixar dal punto di vista spesso ironico del suo ex presidente Ed Catmull. Fluido, piacevole, facile da seguire; alcuni punti sono tra l'altro di grande respiro nella loro semplicità "filosofica", e dimostrano come spesso l'intuito manageriale possa essere alimentato anche già dal coltivare delle relazioni sane con i propri colleghi. Scommettere sul capitale umano è una risorsa da considerare!

really thought provoking chapter about how failure is often stigmatized but it’s a necessary part of the creative process.
