The cutie: great read! Light in the science, though still present throughout, more focused on what it means to be human and what life is. Can you still call a being a human if they’re born from a single male parent? How do you justify creating a living being that is designed to die in childhood? Are they still human? Does it matter? Everything dies

The walk: I enjoyed the discussion (argument?) on the fear of death and wanting to live on in some way after death. The ending really threw me, what happened when Carter shot the gun and who did he shoot? Did he shoot himself now that he’d finally found someone who will share his beliefs and in a way live on as him? Did the protagonist get shot but his consciousness transferred to Carter? Interesting read

The moat: uhhh cool I guess? Interesting premise and the DNA stuff was cool but I see no connection. It was all setup and no payoff, no conclusion. Could’ve been expanded into something meaningful but just fell flat

The safe deposit box: Wow this held me in a tight grip the entire time. I think this is the best story so far. It’s human, believable, even with such a singular big idea. It didn’t need competing ideas, the brain map is perfect. The mystery cliffhanger ending is perfect. I wanted more but I wouldn’t want to change anything.

Axiomatic: Cool idea, well done story, ok character, didn't blow me away. I expected more from the title story, especially after the first few stories. Brain implants are a cool idea to play with, and I liked exploring the different types in the implant store, but they weren't really used for much. The pay off wasn't anything special. It was like a small taste of any cyberpunk-esque story. It wasn't bad

Blood Sisters: It was alright. More of a straight forward story, no twists or big ideas. Some interesting ideas around manufactured viruses but nothing that really piqued my interest. I did like the angle it took on exploring the pharmaceutical industry, privatized healthcare, and government bureaucracy around public health. Good read, but more forgettable compared to the previous stories.
