The most surprising thing I've read in the book recently was when Zephyr's dad reached out to her mom after abandoning her on her eighteenth birthday following with an underwhelming reaction from her mom. As the reader of the book, I was expecting more of a negative reaction from the mom in order to validate Zephyr's feelings a little better.

The word I chose was, "ricochets," because the author used this word to exaggerate how fast Zephyr's heart was beating. This added intensity to the situation. The definition of the word, "ricochet," is, "a shot or hit that rebounds one or more times off a surface."

The author uses imagery in the book to describe the intensity of Zephyr's field hockey match. Field hockey is a big deal to Zephyr, so the author used imagery words to emphasize a sense of pressure the reader can feel through Zephyr's emotions.

In my reading today I found the literary element imagery. When Zephyr describes her hockey game she uses a lot of imagery and descriptive words to express her adrenaline, excitement, and nervousness.

I found the appeal of pathos shown in the last chapter I read. Zephyr's dad recently reached out to her mom to talk again, after leaving her on her 18th birthday and hasn't been back since. This made me upset, because though Zephyr had to go through the struggles of abandonment, her mom made it seem like nothing changed and nothing was noticeably wrong.

Today in my reading, I found the appeal pathos. In the book, Zephyr talks about how her dad left her and her mom when she turned 18. Zephyr tried not to let it affect her, but now her dad wants to come back and her mom is going out with him and she is mad. This made me a little bit mad too because it made me feel like both parents are being sort of insensitive because they're both acting as if nothing happened.

In My book, Zephyr, the main character, does not want to make room for boys, or focus on anything other than her hockey career and college. However, in the book, she is met with a boy who she seems to like. This prompts me to ask if shell have a change of interest and possibly hang out with him rather than stick to being the perfect student she is.

I read about Zephyr's recent Field Hockey game, where she was met with victory. They mentioned in the chapter that Zephyr is skilled enough to apply to hockey based colleges. This prompted me to ask if Zephyr will continue to pursue hockey, or if she will be met with a change in heart later in the book. It mentions in the book description that she meets many obstacles later on. Will this change her passions?

The best part of my reading today was when the main character was preparing for her final hockey game of the season. I really enjoyed this part because Zeph seemed to be happy playing hockey, which is not portrayed very often throughout the book so it was nice to see a little change of character.

The best part of my reading today was finding new characters and the main character, Zephyr's interest. Because I'm still at the beginning of the book, everything seems new and interesting to read about Zephyr and her relations.

I think the author had to research hockey and sportsmanship. The main character, Zephyr is passionate about doing Hockey as a sport in school. So far, she's made it a big part of who she is and her main characteristics. I would ask the author if there was anything that prompted her to introduce hockey as Zephyr's passion, and if it related to the author's interests at all.

In today's reading I was most surprised that the main character(Zephyr) had a fun sense of humor as a kid, which very different from what she acts like in present time.

For today's reading I chose the word "predisposed," which means to make someone liable or inclined to a specified attitude, action, or condition. I chose this word because It was interesting to me. I expected the definition to be something completely different from what it really is.

Based on what I've read so far in the book, and my background knowledge of the book, I predict that the main character, Zee, will decide to take chances and Have some fun with her life before she goes to college.
