Why does Fred feel the need to recap for us? This is the second time he is telling how Crystal and him met...as if wasn't telling US the story.

I'm really enjoying this! After slogging through so many tiresome self-serious books, it's a relief to find something delightful like this. It's silly. It's clever. It's even had me laughing out loud in public once or twice (like learning how the zombie died).

Okay, I'm really liking this book. The satire reminds me of Butcher a bit, but in a voice that's very new. Fred is not your typical protag and I love seeing someone so much like me getting forced to put up with other people's shenanigans.

It's a little sad how much I relate to Fred, but I seriously think he and I would be very good friends.

So far it is fairly amusing. But it seems like it's a string of short stories or novellas that have been strung together with rewrites or re-edits. Every chapter "he" retells, briefly, how the main characters met. That is something you would expect from a new book in series; not in one contiguous novel.
