‘This, however, is where we turn boys into men.’ He paused to look at Lesley. ‘And I suppose young women into women.’
‘Are we forging the one ring?’ I asked.

I’m still having a superb hangover from Oathbringer. So I think I’m not enjoying this one as much as I should.
It IS a lighter read though.
The river gods party bit was awesome.
Cheers.

I like Peter and his narration a whole lot I just wish I could follow the plots in this series a bit better bc I like it but I could love it.

"The powers that be made a concerted effort to rid London of its working class. The city was rapidly losing its industry, and the large numbers of servants who were needed for the Edwardian households were being superseded by the technological wonders of the Age of White Goods. London just didn't need that many poor people anymore."

Also there appears to be a murder that at first does not look connected to magic. But of course Peter as narrator ruins by going, but of course I was wrong.
Leslie is still having surgeries on her face. And we get some more backstory on Nightingale (YEAH!)

A bit slow going so far. Peter and Leslie are going to learn how to make their own wands (not really wands, but I am calling them that) and are still on the hunt for the Faceless Man.

Lost interest half way. But there was a good quote about the visual cortex in chapter 5.

I'm actually finding this quite dull. Like other people have said, there's a lot of reliance on previous canon, and even on previous plot points in the book, that aren't made clear? It might be my state of mind, as at the moment by memory is very poor, but this is so far not my favourite of the series. Pity, as I was holding off reading it because I knew I'd enjoy it.

Schon die Hälfte geschafft, aber von einer Handlung war bisher kaum etwas zu merken. Hoffentlich kommt da noch was.

Peter Grant is in Highgate and Crawley. Fun to see the story describe my familiar places.

A divine party, a goblin fair and a Night Witch attack - but not a lot of progress for the case.
However, the importance of architecture is becoming apparent. Just as well Peter always had an interest.

Well, I wanted to find something I was in the mood for, and it looks like I made a good choice. London police procedural with gory magical shenanigans. Very good stuff.

All the cases, so clearly they must be related. Also, German magical tradition. Now this could get interesting.
