Almost halfway through the book, but the plot's movement is a bit too slow. The clues are there, scattered but obvious.

Struggling a bit with concentration at the moment - too many work things going on at the same time. It's affecting my ability to keep my head in the story...

I forgot how much I just enjoy the narrative voice in these books. The plotting's still kinda naff, tho -- at least it's taking a helluva long time to get going in this one.

I'm going to need a lot of kittens to deal with this.

Wondering whether the badly translated German book title is a fiendishly clever in-joke (as the very next sentence mocks the use of Google Translate) or just really lazy editing. For the record, it should be "Über die Grundlagen die der Praxis der Magie zugrunde liegen" which means "About the basics that practicing magic is based on"... which is quite naff / repetitive / a bit of a Bushism.

The danger is, I might rush and devour this with unseemly haste and not savour it as it should be savoured...

I squeed when they talked about serial killers but not because I have an unhealthy obsession with them (well I have but that's not the point).
Many books with supernatural elements often randomly drop that either people like Beethoven are actually aliens or that Hitler was actually a vampire. Both sort of imply that normal humans are too mediocre to do amazing or horrible things, so when Nightingale says that all...

love it so far! Just as fun as the other 3 (Don't know why our german bookstore had it in stock already but i am not complaining!)

*looks-at-number-of-pages* Hm, I must have chosen the wrong edition because in truth, I'm on page 325 and it's going to be 350-and-something pages in total. oO
Still, it's close to the ending and the "heavy artillery" is stuck somewhere else - surely, that does not mean anything dangerous could happen to the rest of the main characters now...
