Beverley Brook is so real for calling Peter out and saying “you shouldn’t care how her face looks,” about Leslie May. Like … Peter is not a perfect bloke by any means, but the fact that he’s so surface-level about Leslie’s acquired facial difference/injury is really setting up an interesting arc for him and Leslie, where he disappoints her.

Help, so much architecture... so very much... I do not usually mind it but this book feels a bit like the author decided to give Peter more background in the last book and here it gets developed and developed in episodic murder investigations...

Narrator is still very very good but even is a bit shakier here...

Hirondelle (not getting notifications) is on page 2 of 10

Kobna Holbrook-Smith pushes some interpretations to a lot of dialogue. Almost always in a good way, but somehow he is exagerating class antagonism between Peter and Nightingale (like the shoes thing) and it is so cheesy, exagerated over the top dramatic out of the blue.

His american accents have not (IMO) improved since last audiobook either. Not that I can really tell, but come on...

Ugh I'm frustrated that I keep not knowing what's going on. Maybe I need to read these as written instead of audiobooks. I enjoy it, but the narrator goes on a tangent in the middle of something important and then I have no idea what I was supposed to have learned by the next scene. Why are they going there? Who even is that?
