[Lesley's] attitude towards taser deployment was that people with heart conditions, epilepsy and an aversion to electrocution should not embark upon breaches of the peace in the first place.

Sometimes I wish Lesley was the narrator :D

Darn Amazon loan (through the library and Overdrive) starts at the 2% mark. Had to scroll back and read all the quotes. Some people want to read that stuff before the story starts, Amazon!

Inside, it was very dark, but I am, if not exactly a master, then definitely an apprentice in the secret arts. And as such, I laugh in the face of darkness.
That's the spirit!
Speaking of spirits, this book has a very sad subplot. :-(

Nightingale smack down, awesome!

This book is just as ridiculously addictive as the previous three in this series. I really want to know how Ben Aaronovitch does it.

This led me to DAFT, Southwark’s Drugs and Firearm Team and winner of the mostly badly thought out acronym award three years running...

End of chapter 9. I cannot believe they let Varenka get away (facepalm)

I love this series!

I had this theory that alcohol, being a depressant, might counteract all the glamour that was washing around us. And even if it didn’t, it could still get you drunk.

I turned to look back and saw that the blocks acted as gigantic garden walls cupping a green bowl in which grew some of the biggest plane trees I've ever seen, high enough to overhang the walkway, and in full spring leaf. And rearing out of the center was the dusty brown spike of Skygarden Tower.
"F*** me," I said to Toby. "We're living in Isengard."
Now I want to go see this! Ugly estate housing and all.

"Around the corner is a van full of very bored officers. Who, having spent their careers in the morally ambiguous world of modern policing, would love to be introduced to something as clear cut & despicable as an old-fashioned nonce. ... What's so funny?" I asked Lesley, who was trying not to giggle.

A guy in this book jumps in front of a London subway train -- and since I started reading this, two people have jumped in front of Boston subway trains, 24 hours apart. Very creepy.

I like the Grant character and his crew, the writing can be vague, hard to follow at times.

Now I know why Nightingale chose Peter - he was just like him when he was young :D
And Dr Walid probably wasn't very different.

[Dr Walid] has some brains in a drawer which he whips out at the slightest excuse to show young apprentices.

Meant to read more on the Pittsburgh trip but but it was action-packed! The trip moreso than the book.

So far lots has happened, but it's not really going anywhere. And I don't care in the slightest cause I'm totally entertained!
