You don’t get to be a senior investigating officer unless you have a degree in scepticism, an MA in distrust and your CV lists suspicious bastard under your hobbies. - that's how it is done ladies and gents :-)

I'm so tired I just dozed off for 25 minutes and woke up EXCEEDINGLY confused about what day it was, who I was, and so on.

Rereading, even though I have a ton of review copies that need reading (and reviewing), because I only recently got my own copy of this one and I feel like reading it again.

"...and implements of destruction." I did a double take when I heard that, wondering if I had somehow switched from audiobook to iTunes.

Still laughing, still arch geeky references. So much better than book 3.

Ох, ну как же автор любит эти чёртовы аббревиатуры! По три в предложении - это явно перебор

After the third book was a bit disappointing, I'm on the fourth, since Chris has just returned from uni with it. Hurrah. It's funny, so far. Great observations and a totally inappropriate zombie joke, which manages to be simultaneously apposite. Marvellous. This man knows his readers.

I am lot unhappy about this turn of events. I really don't like Lesley, she kind of just got in the way.

'You tell me. Is that likely?' 'It's possible,' said Nightingale. 'I wouldn't have been able to tell at your stage of apprenticeship. But I was only 12 at the time and easily distracted.' 'Distracted by what?' 'Peter!' ---lol!

We heard a distant ringing noise that confused everyone until we recognized the Folly's front doorbell. We all exchanged looks until it was established that since I wasn't intrinsically supernatural, a chief inspector or required to put on a mask before meeting the public I was nominated door opener in chief.

We broke for what me and Leslie called dinner, Nightingale called supper and Molly, we'd begun to suspect, thought of as field trials for her culinary experimentation.

Arts and Antiques, definitely not known by the rest of the Met as the Arts and Crafts squad, occasionally recover an item so valuable that even the evidence storage locker in the middle of New Scotland Yard isn't secure enough.
