Status Updates From The Place Where They Cried

I didn't expect the book to be this hard to read. Why didn't we learn about the Bear Creek Massacre in school? Why did our Native American history lessons start with the Iroquois Nations and end with the Trail of Tears?
I'm very tempted to look up the fates of Chiefs Pocatello and Numaga...
Oh, America. I don't know if it's worse that we have such bloody hands, or that most of us believe they're clean.

"Don't worry, Papa," she said. "I'm still your Little Fox Girl."

"How can you live in peace," I said, standing up, "when you must constantly abide by the white men's orders? You give in to one of their demands --so they start making more. And more. Soon you're struggling to keep up with every one of those demands, all so white men won't take your lives. Someone who wants to kill that badly," I said, "will find a way to kill you. He needs no reason."

That, I think, is how you know you are in love. When you await his smile as the earth awaits the sunrise; when you revolve around him, and bask in his light, and because of that light, thrive.

I think it's a simple as the fact that I'd never had a family to call my own. I'd never known parents, or grandparents, or anyone I could look at and say: 'You and I are a part of something even God cannot set aside.'

This is a tough book to read, so much pain and suffering

This one may break my heart.

Have you read Rose Chritso yet? If not, DO IT. This book...I can't even...the FEELZ, y'all.

I'm very, very sorry but after reading 469 pages I'm ready to give up. I just don't feel "it" and I'm bored. DNF at 48 %.

It's nothing like Gives Light. Where is the magic?????
