As wonderful as i remember. This will be a slow read and i will not devour it like a bag of lays potato chips, but will savor it like a fine wine. Otherwise i may miss out on the rich language, raw emotion, and deep ponders this journal resonates with.

I am so enjoying this book. I have to read it with pencil in hand to capture the nuggets of insight she shares on each page.

I surprisingly enjoy this more than I expected. I have to read Sarton for a university class of mine and I thought it was be dry like many of the other texts we’ve been assigned but it’s really easy to take in and read through.

A great companion book is Care of the Soul by Thomas Moore.

Yes. A journal of solitude, indeed. We all need time to absorb and process life, even just to be still. It's scary business, but so important to our overall health. This is not Sarton's point, necessarily, but it's my take away. I love how she writes about needing solitude and, yet, is scared of it. The re-entry into quietness is awkward business: "What if I cannot find myself inside it [being alone]?" (p. 12).
