This is already proving to be hilarious fun.

Okay. So, maybe it's me, but I don't understand half of what is going on here. There is definitely no telling and the showing is also very sparse.

I'm a bit torn so far.
On the one hand, the protagonists have some loaded history, which makes for a high UST potential. Also, this is all quite quirky, which I like.
On the other hand, the writing is a bit hard to get into. There are lots of interruptions in the narration. Constantly new chapters with these cryptic log entries at the beginning.

I'm supposed to steal the Baldasshi's impeccable sense of style.

What kind of fuckery job is this for an Emperor's agent? O.O I mean, I'm still thinking this is some code for a super secret spy stuff or something, but... To steal a style, yeah... Let's see how that will work O.o

The familiar, smug, attitude made Les want to chuck something at the back of Royce's dark head. Or wrestle him to the ground and kiss him till he couldn't breathe.

I could do with the latter, thank you.

But nothing could have prepared him for Royce Ree. Who is a nightmare so detailed, so absorbing, that you wake from him, gasping in remembered fear, then long to go back to sleep so you enter that twisted landscape again.

Uh oh. I'm completely lost. I don't know what the hell is going on. Hmph. I'm going to read a couple more chapters. Maybe I'm just slow on the uptake. Wouldn't be the first time.

Changed my mind about last status update. Someone does need to STFU. What the hell?

There's a lot of "conversation overheard" in this book. Apparently everyone in this book needs to shut the f'ck up. Except Royce & Les, of course.

He was familiar with the Baldasshi's inbreeding problem. The Princess' genome was more homozygous than that of a child whose parents were twins. Um...ew? Interesting though. It's like an FTL will do for the Baldasshi what trains did for Europe. Also...why the frak am I reading so slow?

"The Honoured Apprentice would be honoured to return to the Princess's honourable presence," he said, imbuing the words with as much acid as he could muster. Heh.

"The play was about to get *really* interesting -- flesh-eating zombies had just been introduced. .." I find that zombies make just about anything delightful. (Wondering about the gakken tree however.)

I keep moving between shock...and awe. This is genius.
