You never see any matriarchal breakaway cults. No shining civilization in the raw west ruled with reverse harems as a social and economic cornerstone. Not even men instituting it upon themselves. Deeply disappointing and uncreative.

I guess my favorite non fiction genre is “books about history that center themselves on a crime but then zoom out and focus on the conditions that allowed that crime to occur” because I’m enjoying this book on “Say Nothing” levels
