Status Updates From The Big Sky

I'm not sure I would have lasted five seconds out in the wilderness, in 1830. Boone and Jim, plus travelling companions of generally stout heart, are doing okay. Many dangers, all along the river.

Marvellous first few chapters, setting the stage for a great adventure for Boone. I realized that I have actually read this author before - a lively Mystery called Wild Pitch. I read a bit of the Intro to The Big Sky in my edition, by Wallace Stegner, because I loved Stegner's novel Angle of Repose...but he was getting into plot details and themes, and I want to experience the novel without advance word.

In the mood for a Western.
