Extremely readable. Good big picture perspective.

In our self-centered way, we most often think of the love that drove Jesus to the Cross was His love us. However, that was only secondary. The greatest motivation that drove Jesus to the Cross was His love for His Father. (John 14:31)
Holy Spirit, please help us to learn from our Savior's example.

The Question of Philip (14:8-11)

•This section relates to the “practical” persons. They have trouble understanding “spiritual matters”. It doesn’t mean that they are not interested; just dull.
•The greatest temptation for this type of person is twofold: to regulate their faith into a works-based faith (Philip’s handling of the hungry multitude 6:5-7) or idolatry – simply making God into their own image.

Without the Way there is no going, with the Truth there is no knowing, and without the Life there is no living.

Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Working John 12:1-11 // What is God's message to me and my family and later FMCOG in this passage?

Studied the Feeding of the Five Thousand (6:1-15) - The only miracle recorded by all four Gospels. Quoting Tenney, "The work is called a sign (6:14), prophetic of Jesus' sufficiency in the midst of deficiency, and of His ability to make consecrated inadequacy satisfy the need of the hunger."

Studied the Claims of Jesus (5:19-29) // very holy ground.

Studying John 5:1-18

A picture of:

1) The depravity of man, i.e. our helplessness of man to save ourselves.
2) Election - Jesus went to one man, ignoring all the other sick people.
3) Jesus' effective calling - "Arise, take up your bed and walk"

Reviewed: John 2:12-22 // Jesus gives proof that He has the right to cleanse our "temple".

Tenney points out that the reason the wine ran out was probably because Jesus and His disciples showed up. An interesting thought that I had not considered before.
