for a children’s book i randomly picked up at the library, this is really good😭

My jaw is on the floor. I feel like I should take a break. But I can't really bring myself to look away. This is truly one of the wildest things I've ever read considering the book's target demographic

Oh man. This book is honestly so brutal. It's no wonder it wasn't in my school library with all the other Dear Americas. The violence is quite graphic for a middle grade story. I'm struggling with it an I'm a 28 year old adult.

"Daddy gets upset every time he reads the newspaper now. I asked why he just doesn't stop and he said he wants to know what is going on."

Every diary entry is getting increasingly more difficult to swallow.

Gotta say, I wasn't expecting a book written in 2000 taking place in 1938 to be so jarringly similar to the climate of today.

Conversations about zionism and Palestine, comments about "Hitler is only after the Polish Jews. He has nothing against the Viennese Jews," have been very interesting things to read so far
