The (slow) speed that I'm reading this is not at all a reflection of the book and the writer's considerable talents. Since I'm not familiar with the setting, I wanted to do a lot of background reading on the history and look up maps and get all the khans straight in my head. And then I'd like some nice, quiet uninterrupted time to lose myself in it!
