Status Updates From Neverlove (Shadow Jumpers, #1)

There is little to no explanation about this world. I'm lost. It's skipping around and I can't even see where the two main characters ever met. Ugh. I had such high hopes.

Intriguing so far.

I don't think I can continue with this book anymore.

Do you have to comment on Pam's appearance overtime she walks into the room? We get, she's pretty.

One day I'm going to get so enraged by an author writing 'could care less' instead of 'couldn't care less' that I'm going to throw a book out of the window

And the last thing I want to say is that I really don't like either character right now. Abby has suffered some terrible things and I want to sympathise with her but I'm too busy feeling annoyance at the silly things she says. And Basil - does he even have a personality?

Also it's become abundantly clear that Abigail and Basil are going to be reincarnated lovers from a previous life and this sort of thing always creeps me out a bit. I know some people find it romantic, but I'd rather see the characters love each other for their personalities, not because it's destined or some shit like that.

What is even happening? As far as I'm aware (I've been reading the book a bit on and off so I supposed I could've missed it) she's never been formally introduced to the idea of Death and told that she's a Cleanser. She just suddenly sort of accepts that this is what she's been training for??

Sick of Jon saying he can't lose H'Laina. Abby ISN'T H'Laina. She's her reincarnation. That's it.

I don't like Jon. I feel like he's a creeper. And he "wants" H'however you spell her name but that's not her. He creeps me out.

I want to cry for Basil.

This has been an easy quick read. I'm almost done, and I have a lot to say. I'll hold it for the final review. But I'll say two things: 1. This story is unique, diverse and has incredible promise. 2. There are too many missed opportunities to make this okay book an amazing book.
