Status Updates From El Doctor Faustus

Every page is basically impenetrable… im gonna hang on for a bit but man, Mann is not for me.

I am quickly falling in love with this book and its characters. As a classical music lover and a classical musician myself, it is particularly compelling. I also loved the description of Adrian Leverkühn’s family, especially his father, who for some reason reminded me of the character of José Arcadio Buendía in One Hundred Years of Solitude (their affinity with natural sciences and alchemy, for example).
