“I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright.
I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more.
I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive.
I wish you enough pain so that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger.
I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting.
I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess.
I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final good-bye.”

“Depression heightens your emotions. Your sadness feels sadder; your despair drives you crazy because it hurts so much. But in apathy, your emotions are severely blunted. You can’t feel anything—even your depression.”

Amazing insights into our brains and the overstimulation inherent in our modern technology culture. It's making me think about how I can create more balance to allow for deep feeling and enjoyment from something that isn't solely an adrenaline rush. Spiritually, as well, it's good motivation to make room for quiet moments and meaning as well as the big ones.
