I won this as a first-reads book some time last year. It's taken me until now, but I'm FINALLY reading it. Sigh.

"You should be Gooogling, Mr. Carter, "Jefferson said. "I Google, but with a healthy skepticism." .....Bwah ha ha.

Hmm...I've never heard of the LeBrea Tar Pits before. This might be the only thing to tempt me to ever visit L.A. http://www.tarpits.org

Highlight quotes thus far: "I saw Thomas Jefferson naked." and "The bill came to more than $1,400. I consoled myself that it was a bargain for a meal with Thomas Jefferson."

I'm definitely enjoying this book. Intelligent with lots of history thrown in. Makes me wonder if the author is a history professor or just a history buff.

In the end I'm not sure what the point of this book was.... Maybe a third person apology for slavery, maybe left-wing grandstanding. It was fun to witness one man's vision of what the Sage would have made of our modern world...but there really wasn't much more there.

A light and good natured read so far...I've often speculated as to how the Sage would react to iPods, laptops and cellphones....
