I'm enjoying this now. It feels a little like Poison Study meets Dhampir. Which is a good thing!. Both of those had good world building, interesting characters, and a bit of romance and this is the same. The romance is fairly tame though and this could easily pass as a YA book.

I must admit I was expecting a slightly slightly more warm and cuddly read. The death count already stands at 4 and the MC killed three of those herself.

Also what's wrong with just hanging people from the local village tree of justice. Tying people to it and beating them to death is all just a bit brutal.

Barbara Longley is finished

Loved this book! Shawna Thomas does a fantastic job of creating a believable, fantasy world with a conflict between different species that evokes sympathy for both sides. The main characters were very real to me, and the journey taken by both the hero and the heroine was heart wrenching. Great read.
