"Afterward" by Edith Wharton is a subtle, creepy ghost story with some really nice metaphoric writing.

"The Crystal Egg" by HG Wells was surprisingly dull. No plot. "Aaron Trow" by Anthony Trollope was a little like an episode of Law&Order, but in Burmuda. I really enjoyed "The Absence of Mr. Glass" by GK Chesterton. If you've ever thought Sherlock Holmes deserved a little taste of his own medicine, read this and just substitute him for Dr. Hood.

Read "The Variable Man" which did not turn out the way I expected...in a good way.

Read "The Absurdity is...Just That It Should Be Absurd." A modern fairy-tale that is very relevant.
