Gene Kim
“Unplanned work has another side effect. When you spend all your time firefighting, there’s little time or energy left for planning. When all you do is react, there’s not enough time to do the hard mental work of figuring out whether you can accept new work. So, more projects are crammed onto the plate, with fewer cycles available to each one, which means more bad multitasking, more escalations from poor code, which mean more shortcuts. As Bill said, ‘around and around we go.’ It’s the it capacity death spiral.”
Gene Kim, The Phoenix Project: A Novel about IT, DevOps, and Helping Your Business Win

Jeffrey R. Holland
“wise old Simeon understood all of this—that the birth was ultimately for the death—and it thrilled his soul that salvation was come. Thus Christmas was sobering as well as sweet for him, and so too will most Christmases be for us. Lying among those gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh were also a crown of thorns, a makeshift royal robe, and a Roman spear.”
Jeffrey R. Holland, Shepherds, Why This Jubilee?

Stephen R. Covey
“if we wanted to change the situation, we first had to change ourselves. And to change ourselves effectively, we first had to change our perceptions.”
Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

“To willingly follow a coward against your own values and to put your own power above the good of the nation is to become a coward.”
Stuart Stevens, It Was All a Lie: How the Republican Party Became Donald Trump

“ANTI-INFLAMMATORY TURMERIC TONIC Try this anti-inflammatory turmeric tonic, using a recipe created by chef Sarah Sugden. You’ll need: 6pieces of fresh turmeric root, each piece roughly an inch long 3pieces of fresh ginger root Juice from 2lemons or oranges 2tablespoons of manuka or raw honey 3pinches of ground black pepper Wash or scrub away any dirt on the turmeric and ginger roots, but keep the skin on both. Place all the ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Strain through a nut-milk bag or fine sieve. You can have it straight up as a powerful shot or prepare a warming tea by adding three-quarters of a tablespoon to a mug of boiled water. For a refreshing and hydrating tonic, you can add it to sparkling water, ice and fresh mint leaves. For a metabolic boost, add a pinch of cayenne, while a pinch of cinnamon will improve blood flow and circulation”
