I'm an English-born author and artist who married a Scotsman and has spent the past 20 years living in Scotland. I enjoy life north of the border, but still feel a strong tie to my English roots.

I've had a lifelong fascination with history, both with the lives of famous names and those of the forgotten individuals who lived in turbulent times but left few traces.

Other inspirations for me are art, ballet and nature. Being an introvert, I've found it challenging to step out into the spotlight of social media, but hope to find some kindred spirits here.

It's also my fervent hope that my novel will reach people I would otherwise never have known, and extend a hand to them, so that for a while we might walk together in the same world.

Edith Wharton
“Through the stillness they heard the church clock striking five.
"Oh, Ethan, it's time!" she cried.
He drew her back to him. "Time for what? You don't suppose I'm going to leave you now?"
"If I missed my train where'd I go?"
"Where are you going if you catch it?"
She stood silent, her hands lying cold and relaxed in his.
"What's the good of either of us going anywheres without the other one now?" he said.”
Edith Wharton, Ethan Frome

Hiromi Kawakami
“I, on the other hand, still might not be considered a proper adult. I had been very grown-up in primary school. But as I continued through secondary school, I in fact became less grown-up. And then as the years passed, I turned into quite a childlike person. I suppose I just wasn't able to ally myself with time.”
hiromi kawakami, The Briefcase

Edith Wharton
“They stood together in the gloom of the spruces, an empty world glimmering about them wide and gray under the stars”
Edith Wharton, Ethan Frome
