Executive Coach by day; author/writer by night, though these days it's mostly writer day and night with the occasional consulting gig.

I have [self-]published ten books so far: the latest project 'Alex' Choice', is the sequel to my earlier novel, 'The Treasure of Stella Bay', (2021) about a boy growing up in a small village in 1960s Ontario now takes Alex through high school and university. In 2022 we released my autobiography, 'My Story, Mostly'. 'Travels With Myself', another memoir, is about my transition through grief to a renewed sense of purpose; it followed a novel in 2019 about the loss of love [Amitié, A Novel]; three on career and management effectiveness [The 'Dynamics of Management']; and two memoirs about the family dogs ['The M

The problem is not compromising quality for a deadline.
On the other hand, I'm never really satisfied with my manuscripts. I have to keep reminding myself that perfection is the enemy of the good. But is it good enough??(less)

Never thought about this before. I think more about the principal character, and perhaps the main protagonist.
But what immediately comes to mind is Tom Sawyer and Becky Thatcher. Even though exaggerated Mark Twain perfectly captured the twelve-year-old male mind trying to catch the girl's attention. And her assiduously ignoring him, yet we know she is paying attention, until finally they come together as Tom assuages her fears while overcoming his own. Nice story. (less)

25.24 Wilkins Micawber’s Principle

I shared an office with a distinguished older gentleman who was many times more, or less, the man than met the eye. A smaller man but a towering intellect, immaculately dressed, and a sly sense of humour, with a propensity for lickerous limericks.

His Nibs and the author, New Year’s Eve 2018

JFW came from a privileged family and enjoyed a comfortable life growing up in the 1940s Toronto. Privileged

“I realize I'm crying a little, too. I remember. Sometimes pain is so unmanageable that the idea of spending another day with it seems impossible. Other times pain acts as a compass to help you through the messier tunnels of growing up. But pain can only help you find happiness if you remember it.”
Adam Silvera, More Happy Than Not

“I'd had the idea, once, that if I could get the chance before I died I would read all the good books there were. Now I began to see that I wasn't apt to make it. This disappointed me, for I really wanted to read them all.”
