I looked forward to reading this but I just didn’t engage with it at all. Despite what was going on being pretty grim, I just didn’t care about the characters at all, any of them, with a small exception for Geneva. I couldn’t honestly say why.

How engaging was this novel? How much did I root for Vasya? A bloody lot, that’s how much. A fantastic heroine in a fantastical story.

Cordelia Fine
“There is in fact a category of people who get unusually close to the truth about themselves and the world. Their self-perceptions are more balanced, they assign responsibility for success and failure more even-handedly, and their predictions for the future are more realistic. These people are living testimony to the dangers of self-knowledge. They are the clinically depressed.”
