How to Do the Work by Nicole LePera
"How to Do the Work explores the aspect of Self-Healing – the holistic approach. These days more and more modern day doctors who were total sceptics of holistic approach, turn inward and toward it after personal experiences.

A very interesting historical novel, based on the true story of an 18th century woman living in England, who became an astronomer. Caroline Herschel lived in a culture of male hierarchy, when women were only thought to be of service to others. She di ...more

This book was a disappointment to me even though it certainly is well-written. The setting is an English village during the winter of 1962-1963, when there was a very bad snowstorm. The characters portrayed in this story are two married couples.

Eleonora by Edgar Allan Poe
"This wee story came in two parts.

Firstly, our narrator falls deeply in love with his cousin Eleonora (yes, I know – don’t shoot the messenger, ok!!), here we see some splendid writing by Poe. Even I, who can be a little impatient with over-flowery wr" Read more of this review »

“We get too soon old,
and too late smart.”
Dianne Alvine

“That men do not learn very much from the lessons of history is the most important of all the lessons that history has to teach.”
Aldous Huxley, Collected Essays

“You know, my young friend, I will be ninety years old next year, and life is still a constant surprise to me. We never know what will happen next, what we will see, and what important person will come into our life, or what important person we will lose. Life is change, constant change, and unless we are lucky enough to find comedy in it, change is nearly always a drama, if not a tragedy. But after everything, and even when the skies turn scarlet and threatening, I still believe that if we are lucky enough to be alive, we must give thanks for the miracle of every moment of every day, no matter how flawed.”
Mark T. Sullivan, Beneath a Scarlet Sky

“Ink runs from the corners of my mouth.
There is no happiness like mine.
I have been eating poetry.”
Mark Strand, Selected Poems of Mark Strand

“Gratitude sets in, the moment we pause to appreciate all the goodness in our lives, today and everyday.”
Cyndee Melzow

“I've learned a lot this year.. I learned that things don't always turn our the way you planned, or the way you think they should. And I've learned that there are things that go wrong that don't always get fixed or get put back together the way they were before. I've learned that some broken things stay broken, and I've learned that you can get through bad times and keep looking for better ones, as long as you have people who love you.”
Jennifer Weiner, Good in Bed
