Kevin Ansbro Terrific review, Mark. You are Poe-try in motion, mate. 😉

message 5: by Dianne (new)

Dianne Alvine Very fascinating about Poe and this story he wrote. So different from the ones I've read like The Tell Tale Heart, The Fall of the House of Usher etc., which are chilling tales!!!

Thanks heaps Vasilii - this was a good one 🤗🦘🎈

Jodi This cousin Eleonora sounds much too possessive! Who is she to insist he never fall in love again?! And to return as a spirit to "keep an eye on him"??😧 If she was, instead, a man, he'd be accused of stalking!!
Of course, there's no timeline for when a widow/(er) may fall in love again, but please don't stalk your partner from the spirit world!! IMO, that is the element of HORROR in this story!!😱

(Apologies Mark - this story obviously struck a nerve.)😬

Love it when I make you chuckle Laysee, but as you probably know, I wouldn't know a bit of symbolism or a metaphor if it fell on me. But I spotted this one!!!!!!!! Thanks again my friend 🤗🦘🎈

Oh dang Kevin!!!! I wish I'd have thought of that - but you know, as I read more and more of Poe's works, I am starting to understand him a lot more (funny hey 😂. Thanks again mate, hope all is well 🤗⚽⚽⚽⚽

Yes, indeed Dianne - I suppose no matter what types of tales he wrote, he did it with style I reckon. Love him. Thanks for stopping by 🤗🤗

Ohhhhh..................I would love it if you could find this and read it Jodes. It's only a few pages, and I don't want to give anything away - but, but.....

Do you want me to send you the link??

I'm sorry I struck a nerve, but I wouldn't suggest you to read this one if I struck it even more my friend. Thanks again for your wonderful comments Jodes 🤗🤗🤗⚽

Razvan Banciu One of the weirdest authors I've ever met. Poetry or prose, he has a mark of his own...

message 14: by Sara (new)

Sara Loving your cousin, being totally appropriate in Poe's day, isn't as creepy as having her "keep an eye on you" from the beyond. Poor Poe spent as much time in the graveyard before he died as after.

BTW, I love him too!

Yeah, being spied on from beyond the grave, is a wee bit chilling isn't it Sara? He must've been a fascinating character, I need to read a bit more about this man. Thanks for commenting 🤗🦘⚽⚽

Sara He was pretty fascinating and still is. He married his cousin, you know. There is a tour (well worth taking) in Baltimore that follows the last days of his life and ends at his grave. He had two grave sites--nothing ordinary about him even in death. Great fun. Richmond has a ghost tour that includes him and a museum. Few authors as unforgettable.

Ulysse Falling deeply in love with a cousin in a story always spells disaster (I wouldn't know about real life). Are you doing all Poe? Go Mark go!

message 19: by Fran (new)

Fran Sir Mark...Familial love for a cousin....a no-no, eh? Thank you for the chuckles.... I agree with Kevin about Poe-try in motion!

Hey Ulysse, I snaffled a collection of his shorties at a local bookstore here and am reading them to give me a break from the my longer reads. So good, are you a fan? Are you going for France in the WC mate? ⚽⚽
