Michael Deeze is a retired physician whose medical career gave him a front-row seat to the darkest and most complex corners of human nature and it shows in every page he writes.
His Thomas Quinn series has captivated thousands of readers drawn to crime fiction that feels psychologically real, morally layered, and impossible to put down. His latest, The Deathbed Confessions, was born from a dare challenged to invent a story on the spot, what emerged surprised even him: a psychological thriller that walks the razor's edge between good and evil, moral and unthinkable.
In 2019, Michael was named one of the 25 Most Promising Independent Authors by Independent Authors Magazine.
Book 2 of the Thomas Quinn series arrives summer 2026.

The Dare

My latest novel, The Deathbed Confessions started off as a dare. I was challenged to see if I could come up with the idea to a story and write the first 2-3 paragraphs cold with no preparation.

The rules were simple, I would have 10 minutes to come up with an idea, and write the paragraphs. The main rule was that it had to be something I came up with on the spot. Not something I'd been thinking abo Read more of this blog post »

"I loved this one. The characters are well written and really suck you in. The story has all of the good twists and turns you hope for in a book.
Kind of fell in love with Harry a tiny bit because you know that deep down he has a good heart.

“She cocked an eyebrow at me and said, “No. After the week I’ve just spent with you, there are going to be plenty of people that are gonna want to shoot you. You better get used to that.” Which hurt my feelings a little.”
Michael Deeze, The Deathbed Confessions

“My best advice to myself was to act like I’d been there before. I was in way over my head, and I was not skating down the line between good and bad anymore. I tried to justify my actions by reminding myself that it was part of my investigation but even I couldn’t fool myself that much.
I drained my glass and then drained the one that Sara handed me. In no way, was this evening turning out to have career building opportunity written on it. I was getting more nervous by the minute.”
Michael Deeze

“It’s inevitable. But we pretend it isn’t until that point where we can’t deny it anymore. Then we begin to repent.”
“Repent for our sins.” I nodded.
“No! We repent for the opportunities that we missed. The doors we should have walked through.”
Michael Deeze, The Deathbed Confessions

“My mother had a great deal of trouble with me, but I think she enjoyed it.”
Mark Twain
